I was able to find 15 lists of the “best animal actors of all time” and added all their content into a spreadsheet, noting the rank of each one. There were 28 that were on at least 2 lists. I averaged the rankings each one got and divided that average by a factor of the number of lists it was on. The lowest score meant a high ranking average on many lists. The complete spreadsheet is attached at the bottom.

The animal actors that were on the most lists (out of 15) were:

  • Golden Cloud (horse-Trigger) – 11 lists
  • Rin Tin Tin (dog) – 10 lists
  • Terry (dog-Toto) – 10 lists
  • Bart the Bear – 10 lists
  • Pal (dog-Lassie) – 9 lists
  • Keiko (orca-Willy) – 9 lists
  • Moose (dog-Eddie) – 8 lists
  • Crystal (monkey-Night At The Museum) – 8 lists
