I searched the Internet for lists of the best or favorite Christmas action movies of all time. Criteria included the movies being ranked, not just listed, and generally created by groups, whether teams or committees or based on general public voting (like Ranker.com).

I was able to find 23 lists. I took the 23 lists and added all their content into a spreadsheet, noting the rank of every film. I averaged the rankings each movie got (there were 31 that were on at least 2 lists) and divided that average by a factor of the number of lists that movie was on. The lowest score meant a high ranking average on many lists.

The movies that were on the most lists (out of 23) were:

  • Batman Returns (1992) – 19 lists
  • Lethal Weapon (1987) – 18 lists
  • Violent Night (2022) – 18 lists
  • Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) – 17 lists
  • Die Hard (1988) – 16 lists
  • Die Hard 2 (1990) – 13 lists
  • The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) – 11 lists
  • Reindeer Games (2000) – 11 lists
