I searched the Internet for lists of the best Gary Oldman roles/movies of all time. Criteria included the movies being ranked, not just listed, and generally created by groups, whether teams or committees or based on general public voting (like Ranker.com).

I was able to find 20 lists of either his roles or his movies. I took the 20 lists and added all their content into a spreadsheet, noting the rank of every film. I ended up averaging the rankings each movie got and dividing that average by a factor of the number of lists that movie was on. The lowest score meant a high ranking average on many lists. The complete spreadsheet is attached at the bottom.

The movies that were on the most lists (out of 20) were:

  • Gordon – The Dark Knight (2008) – 19 lists
  • Stansfield – Léon: The Professional (1994) – 19 lists
  • Dracula – Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) – 19 lists
  • George Smiley – Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011) – 18 lists
  • Sid Vicious – Sid and Nancy (1986) – 18 lists
  • Drexl Spivey – True Romance (1993) – 17 lists
  • Zorg – The Fifth Element (1997) – 17 lists
