I searched the Internet for lists of the best Maggie Smith movies of all time. Criteria included the movies being ranked, not just listed in general or by date, and generally created by groups, whether teams or committees or based on general public voting (like Ranker.com).

I was able to find 13 lists. I took the 13 lists and added all their content into a spreadsheet, noting the rank of every film. I ended up averaging the rankings each movie got and dividing that average by a factor of the number of lists that movie was on. The lowest score meant a high ranking average on many lists. The complete spreadsheet is attached at the bottom.

The movies that were on the most lists (out of 13) were:

  • Gosford Park (2001) – 12 lists
  • The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) – 12 lists
  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001) – 11 lists
  • Sister Act (1992) – 11 lists
  • A Room with a View (1985) – 10 lists
  • The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011) – 10 lists
  • The Lady in the Van (2015) – 10 lists
  • California Suite (1978) – 10 lists
  • Travels With My Aunt (1972) – 10 lists
